Jessica Alba Faced Sexism When She Started Her Career

Jessica Alba: She said: “I always wanted to be treated like I saw guys being treated. When guys had ideas about the character or the story, they were praised, like ‘Oh, you’re really smart,’ but women were asked, ‘What? Do you have an opinion?’ It felt like being seen as confrontational, while a man just seemed strong and powerful.”

“I think attitudes towards strong women were very restrictive in many ways when it comes to women having an equal position,” Alba commented.

When asked about feeling empowered in her career, she mentioned that she had to “allow” herself to feel that way.

She added: “For a long time, I felt like I didn’t deserve it. Working towards a goal is one thing, but giving myself the space to be successful and acknowledge it, or simply feel smart, was challenging.”

“I hope everyone understands that my heart is in the right place. I consider myself very lucky to have had these wonderful people come into my life and stick with me even though I can be pushy and persistent. But, I’m not sure, we get to create some pretty amazing moments together.”
